We just finished reading Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" in my Brit Lit class.
I really enjoyed reading it. The ending was quite dramatic but very appropriate. I recommend zee book.
We are now starting our last book of the semester: H.G. Wells' "Time Machine". I'm excited to read it....my professor picks wonderful books for us to read. I have loved every one of them.
Oh my, I love the smell of books.........and the smell of books AND coffee (together). I usually always smell the book I am reading....am I the only one who does that?
I want to write a book, someday.

omg.. I never told anyone that I smelled any book that i got my hands on. It was something I kept to myself lol.
After I smell the books pages, I sign my name and the date I got my hands on it.
I guess its not so weird after all.
Aha! I knew I wasn't the only one.
It's true - there's a line in Buffy The Vampire Slayer where Giles (librarian) says that he doesn't like computers because learning should be tangible, or smelly. We pick up a book and the smell reminds us that the first time we read it was on holiday, or on a rainy night in Georgia, or in a bus station in Birmingham.
Everyone has a book inside them, it's just about finding that individual voice
PS - The Time Machine is a good read, i hope you enjoy it :)
Yes, I liked the Time Machine: I thought it was going to end one way and it did not (of course, that's not the only reason I liked it).
And "The Picture of Dorian Gray" was quite a....um...intimidating book for me. I think Wilde purposely made Wotton's character with a much more stronger, influencing voice than Basil's, so that the reader also feels tempted to sin. Although, what happened to Basil at the end was tragic and unjustified.
And I wish my bookcase was just getting full: I'm already in the process of having to lay books on top of rows of others, which I hate doing.
My bookcase is currently overflowing (although it isn't huge) - it's a great sight isn't it?
I'm the same - I love the smell of books... and definitely coffee. A cafe in a bookstore, to me, is heaven.
I have to admit, the quote don't feed the pixies gave, from Buffy, popped into my head when I was reading your post as well.
Pixie - Yes, books should be smelly...in a good way.
I LOVED The Time Machine. It set me off on a whole new wave of ideas/thoughts.
Samurai - I agree with you about Wotton's character. And I was very sad about Basil :( Mr. Wilde is a wonderful writer.
Dreamer - An overflowing bookcase is a splendid sight!
Cafe + Bookstore = What I would love to own, someday. I'm pretty sure that nothing smells better than the smell of coffee and books COMBINED.
